love lost

...is much more painful than love not at all.

This piece was inspired by unrequited love. I, for one, do not believe in 'better loved and lost'; personally, I think that if a relationship is only going to result in hurt, then it should not exist at all. The horse here has turned to stone and cracked out of bitterness and loss for the lover who turned and left. The crow calls him to death, where the horse may finally find some peace for his broken heart.
